STYLE ON THE STREET

A short photo series exploring various styles worn by people in Downtown Bellingham.

PUMP TRACK

Covers a brief history of the early construction plans, prior to the creation of "Track Side" in Downtown Bellingham, Wash.

The area — under previous ownership of The Puget Sound Pulp & Timber Company and Georgia Pacific Corporation — was acquired by The Port of Bellingham in 2005.

The Port partnered with the City of Bellingham and agreed to refurbish and dedicate the space to creating new parks, trails and services — as well as showcase several historical structures that remain from the Georgia Pacific tissue mill.

The sweep did draw attention to issues facing the houseless community in Bellingham. As the city continues to see that population of individuals increase, it's fair to wonder whether this is something we will see again in the future.
